Sussex Oak – Influence on Place Names
Broad Oak Brede is a small village on the A28 midway between Hastings and Tenterden. The village is first mentioned in a charter from the time of King Canute (1016 – 1035). The name is probably derived from the Anglo–Saxon word “bred” meaning broad referring to the large valley lined with oak trees.
You can find out more about the conservatories and orangeries we build in and around the area by visiting our local website Sussex Conservatories.
