LANTERN CONSERVATORIES

A distinctive look with classic appeal

The first 'Lantern' conservatory was designed in the nineteenth century to create a distinctive room, unique in its height and atrium effect. Victorian Lantern conservatory designs can be seen at Kew Gardens and some notable stately homes.

The spacious two-tiered effect of this style makes it a favourite choice for pool enclosures and orangeries, whether in brick and stone or the classic glass style. Wherever it is used, it conveys an atmosphere of grandeur from bygone days.

A lantern conservatory is also a practical solution where extra ventilation is required, especially in south-facing locations and where condensation from a kitchen may otherwise cause a problem. For advice on this or any other aspect of conservatory design, talk to one of our expert conservatory designers.
