Climbing oak trees used to be a popular pastime in England. This tradition is now being recreated by the by the Mighty Oak Tree Climbing Co. There are a handful of organizations in the UK that offer recreational tree climbing. The techniques are different to free climbing; a rope and harness are used and the climbers are tied in at all times.
