Derbyshire Oak – A Local History

The ‘Original Oak Inne’, now the Original Oak at Headingley, was named after a famous Shire Oak which started its life when Roman Soldiers were garrisoned the fort at Adel some 1500 years ago. For many centuries the oak was a focal point of the local community.
