Kent Oak – A Haven for Wildlife

Ancient Kent oaks provide roosting places for many of Kent's owls and bats. Once the centre of the oak tree has been eaten away, often when the tree is many centuries old, the hollow trunk provides a natural refuge. Colonies of bats often hibernate within the oaks during the winter.
