Orangeries in Surrey

The first English Orangery was built in about 1580 at Beddington in Surrey in the garden of Sir Francis Carew. In August 1599 Queen Elizabeth I visited Sir Francis and stayed for three days. She probably toured the Orangery and maybe even have eaten an Orange.
