TRENCH FILL FOUNDATIONS

Trench fill foundations can be quicker to prepare than Deep Strip Foundations enabling the construction of the conservatory to proceed quickly. There is less labour time and disruption with trench fill, but there will be a greater cost of concrete to set against this.

The trench is filled with concrete exceeding 500mm in depth to a minimum of 150mm below ground level. In cases where ground heave may be expected, lining of the trench sides may be required with a compressible material together with mesh reinforcement.

The trench fill foundation is often used when soil is loose or in areas with a high water table and in areas with heavy clay and in the presence of trees.
