PARTY WALL FENCE

A party wall fence does not mean a fence in the usual sense. It is not a wooden fence, but is a wall that does not form part of a building but which does straddle the boundary between you and your neighbour.

So if you are planning to build against the party wall fence, or will be excavating within three metres of the neighbouring property you will need to give them official notice at least two months prior to the work commencing. The adjoining owner may agree to the start being earlier, but is not obliged to.
