SIDE OF PROPERTY CONSERVATORY

Although most councils consider that conservatories are more suited to the rear of a property, they can be persuaded to let you add a conservatory to the side of your home. If it is exposed to the highway and public view or looks out-of-place you may need to reach a compromise.

A Orangery Conservatory built on a brick surround facing the highway will provide some degree of privacy that is impossible to achieve when the glazing is entirely from roof to ground. You can then have the design include a fully glazed wall at the rear.

If you are accustomed to getting access to the rear of your property on a regular basis, for example to move a lawnmower or refuse bins from back to front, you will need to take this into consideration and ensure that some form of side access or alternative route is available.
