WHY OAK?

Naturally seasoned for traditional strength

All the oak used for our conservatories has been naturally seasoned; felled and allowed to dry and weather before it is hewn into the required shapes and sizes needed.

The result is superior in every way to the more usual green (unseasoned), or kiln-dried oak. Kiln-dried oak has been ‘quick-dried’ in an oven and, as a result, tends to warp and split when natural weathering occurs.

The naturally-seasoned oak used by Richmond Oak has already been weathered. When it is turned into timber frames every upright stays true, every joint tight and weatherproof for years to come.

With naturally-seasoned oak the exterior increases in beauty as it ages and weathers.
