Wooden Orangery Sussex

As we now enter into the season of toasty jumpers, hot chocolate and evenings drawing in, most of us are at home in the evenings more than we would be in the summer.

This means we can start thinking ahead to what we will be doing with our homes ready for Spring Time, will it be a new hardwood conservatory? An oak orangery? Modern glazed extension?

Why do we think this? Well, one reason is in our order books, we are very fortunate to be very busy planning our clients new glazed extensions for installation over Christmas to early spring another reason for us thinking this is because of what is happening in the world at the moment:

A recent article in ‘Property Investor Today’ makes some interesting points with regards to the current homeowner market:

“The coronavirus lockdown has meant people across the UK have spent more time in their homes than ever before. For months, restrictions meant the population was unable to go out to work, non-essential shops for leisure or to see their friends or family – and it seems this time spent at home has led many to turn their attention to upgrading their space.

Data published by Statista shows that online sales of DIY and gardening tools went through the roof during the coronavirus outbreak. Between the 9th and 15th March, just before the lockdown started in the UK, “online sales of home improvement and gardening retail products grew by almost 50%” when compared with the same time period in 2019. This includes items like paint, building materials, equipment and tools, and plants and seeds for gardening.

While restrictions have begun to ease in England, it seems that many are still focusing on completing home DIY projects. According to ResponseSource, a recent study has revealed that 55% of adults in the UK are prioritising home improvements over the coming months. So what projects are people most likely to undertake?”

How has Covid-19 impacted the home improvement industry

As mentioned in the report, as the majority of us are spending more time in our homes given the current pandemic, there are several more things that you may want to consider, outside of the norm.

For example, how could an oak glazed extension help your mental wellbeing, something that is possibly more important now than it was even a mere year ago, with so many of us now living and working from home.

It is proven that getting more sunlight is good for our mental health and with so many people now working from home, this is of paramount importance.

On the topic of Covid-19, there are questions we are regularly being asked, such as;

Will we be able to work on site as promised?

Will the work still go ahead as planned?

We as a company have taken measures to ensure the safety of our workforce and of course our clients safety. Whilst the industry has also learnt and adapted to a new way of operating of which you can read more about HERE
