Preparing for Autumn – How to update and decorate your oak extension

Summer is coming to a close very shortly, and we hope you have all enjoyed the hot days here in the UK, with endless garden BBQs with family and friends. However, now is a great time to start preparing for autumn at home.

There are many ways in which you can decorate your home and oak extension to get it ready for autumn. Some can be subtle changes, some larger, and in this blog, we will be highlighting a few of them for you.

Incorporate Autumn Colours

Variations of oranges, reds, yellows and browns all can be associated with the autumn season. Having a welcoming mix of these can make for a tasteful and warmly environment.

Whether you want to simply include some new accessories, change the throw on your sofa or paint the walls to fit this theme, you’ll be bringing the autumn atmosphere into your home.

Updating Cushions & Throws

As the days get colder, there’s nothing better than getting cosy and warm with some new cushions and throws at home.

You could also go one step further and buy new rugs or curtains for your extension to match your cushions or throws.

If you don’t want to buy new cushions, you could alternatively just buy new covers for your cushions which you can alternate each season to save you money.

Declutter Your Space

A good common practice to have is to declutter your living environment to help keep it clean and tidy going into the new season.

Having a clean environment will make it far easier to manage, whilst giving you the ability to relax and destress.

It could be as simple as removing old, unwanted accessories, furniture or knick-knacks, or perhaps if your space is already minimal, you may just need to undertake a deep clean.

Set the Atmosphere

A combination of scented candles is a great way to create a cosy atmosphere in your living space. They are affordable, look and smell great, whilst being a nice alternative to using your lighting.

As the sun starts to set earlier, lighting candles are a great way to unwind going into the evening.
