Bespoke Oak Orangery Designs – Before and After
Here at Richmond Oak, we believe that having a home extension built is the perfect way to add character and luxury into your living environment. Not only will you increase the space you have, but you will also increase the value of your property.
Established for over 13 years now, we have built up a friendly and reputable team of professionals who can deliver from the initial design consultation, through to completion.
We pride ourselves on delivering bespoke options for home extensions. Oak orangeries, conservatories and garden rooms are our specialty.
A common question we get asked is, ‘what’s the difference between an orangery and a conservatory?’ As more and more people are wanting to have a home extension, it’s important to give clarity on the options available to them. For more on this subject, view our blog.
Case Studies - Before and Afters
Having an oak framed orangery installed has been a very popular choice amongst many of our past clients. The following are some prime examples of how we have improved peoples living spaces.
Browner - Cobham, Surrey
This client was keen on having a large extension in a contemporary style in their garden, improving the pre-existing property.
The end product resulted in a seasoned oak contemporary orangery which became a welcoming addition to their property. With 3 sets of bi-fold doors, this extension can open up fully, letting the outdoors in. This gives a great sense of space, becoming a perfect social room for garden gatherings.
The two roof lanterns above enable more natural light into the property, which as studies have shown, increases well-being and mood in a positive way.
Heath - Wadhurst, Kent
This client's oak orangery extension was designed to provide an inviting living environment that was different to the rest of the property. It has resulted in a stunning extension that opens up with bi-fold doors, looking out onto their garden and the countryside beyond, with access to their patio area.
Summers - West Sussex
The plan for this orangery was to extend the existing kitchen and lounge, resulting in a large open plan environment. With the added space they were able to add a dining area into the room as well.

Mrs Summers comments on their new extension:
"We are still loving our orangery and are regularly complimented on how lovely it is. We were flattered to see photos of it in a magazine the other month too! I can't imagine life without one now!"
Ratcliffe - Sevenoaks, Kent
This client had an orangery installed onto their property to turn their kitchen into a large 25sq.m. open plan living space. Originally they wanted the inside to be a Farrow & Ball colour, with the outside matching the windows of the house in black. However, we arranged for this client to view a local orangery project that had Sadolin Extra Light Oak finish on the outside framing, with a Clear Oak finish on the inside.
To add the cherry on top with this project, we included 15mm antique leaded lights in the frame to help blend in the oak extension with the style of the existing property.
Cowell - Cobham, Surrey
This client had a very bespoke orangery built. It included white painted exterior frames with natural oak on the inside. The plan for this orangery was to extend the living area, giving them a brand new kitchen and dining room with ample space.
With the inclusion of a large roof lantern, the new room was bright and airy, letting in lots of natural light throughout the daytime.
Kendrick - Woking, Surrey
This clients property consisted of a barn conversion with two buildings. Their idea was to link the two buildings together with an orangery on a patio space that at the time was not being used. This new orangery was able to extend the current kitchen, linking into the second buildings lounge area.
A quirky feature of this property was incorporating a spiral staircase wine cellar within the orangeries floor, which truly gives this extension originality.
This extension also has a bi-fold door which allows the entire orangery area to be opened up with a stunning view of the landscaped garden.

Valev - Tunbridge Wells, Kent
The orangery at this clients property was designed to provide them with their needed extra living space. It resulted in a stunning extension that had clear oak on the inside and outside, giving it a truly natural look.
This extension included a large roof lantern which is commonly installed on most of our customer’s extensions as it lets in loads of light, and makes the room look larger.
Needham - Tonbridge, Kent
This client had an orangery built with a mansard roof design, which made it very unique. The extension was built to enable views of the garden, which previously were not possible from the existing rooms.
As the client and his family previously lived in Asia for many years, they appreciate having access to the outdoors, making an orangery the perfect solution when living here in the UK.
Mr Needham comments on their new extension:
“I hope all is well with you. I am sitting in the Orangery writing this and we very much appreciate this area and the ambience it provides. Whoever has visited us have been very impressed with it and particularly the finish. Once again many thanks and all the best for the future.”
