Home Improvement Trends For 2023
2023 is just around the corner, and so is the desire for many people to start improving their homes for the new year. From what we have observed over the past year, and most recently in the past quarter, here are the home improvement trends we expect to run throughout the new year.

Home Offices - A Better Work-Life Balance
It is no doubt that home offices have become a very popular and desirable addition to properties since the pandemic, so we see this remaining a trend going into 2023.
As of November 2022, 38% of British workers have worked from home in the past 7 days (Article posted on Nov 16th), along with 71% of workers saying that they have travelled to work in the past 7 days.
Companies and business owners have now seen the benefit of working from home or hybrid working, both for the employees, and also to keep overhead lower.
Working from home can also contribute to a better work-life balance, which in turn helps with self-care and providing a happier life. Gone are the times of needing to commute regularly and increasing stress levels from having less time to yourself.

More Natural Light Sources & Less Energy Usage
Going into 2023, people around the UK will be on the ball to find ways to reduce energy usage. One way this can be achieved is by introducing more natural light sources into your property. This could be done through a home extension, or by incorporating new glazing such as sliding patio doors / bi-fold doors.
By incorporating more natural light, you’ll find yourself using artificial light far less which will result in a smaller energy bill. However, there is another benefit of natural light, and that is it can contribute towards your well-being. To find out more about well-being, view our blog here.
However, by incorporating glazing from Richmond Oak, you will benefit from our solar control aspects, meaning in the winter you’ll retain more heat, and in the summer the heat stays out keeping you cool.

Multifunctional Spaces
Our final trend which we see sticking from this year and getting more popular going into 2023 is multifunctional spaces. Modern homes are incorporating this by combining kitchens, lounges and dining rooms. However, older properties that don’t feature this off will require an extension, orangery or conservatory to do so.
Larger, multifunctional spaces will allow you to have a much more social environment for friends and family, whilst bringing far more natural light into your space.
