Should You Paint Your Oak Extension?

Whether you have your extension painted or not will always come down to personal preference, however, there are some great reasons to do so.

Various colours can convey different moods. For example, blue has been said to have the most calming effect out of all the colours. So a light pastel blue could be a nice accent to use within your extension.

Green could also be another popular choice for paint since it is the colour of nature, making it a nice compliment to your garden.

If you want to go for a more subtle and modern look, then you could choose between whites, greys and blacks.

On the other hand, if you opt to leave your oak natural then it can give it some character with the exposed grain. Like green paint, it will also compliment your garden and surrounding trees.

Natural oak could also be a good decision to go for if your property already features it.

Compliment Your Paint With Interiors

Depending on the paint you choose, (or if you leave it natural) it would be favourable to complement it with the interiors within the living space, such as the blinds and furniture.

For example, if you are going for a subtle and modern look, using grey/black furniture to complement white paint would be a nice combination, with one wall having a separate, darker accent colour.

If you go for natural oak or a shade of green paint, then you could have furniture which features exposed wood, rather than 100% material. If your extension will be used as part of your dining area, then one way this could be achieved is by buying a dining table which has a similar shade and grain to the oak frame.

There are endless choices when designing and decorating your extension, and we are here to help you create your dream living space.
