Top Design Tips & Ideas For Orangeries In 2022
We are well into 2022 now and the summer is not too far away. People are soon to get their lawnmowers out again and fire up the BBQ. Summer is also a great time to open up your oak extensions to your garden.

Many people want an extension such as an oak framed orangery as they become a great environment in the summer, especially with large bi-fold doors (albeit, they will still be very cosy in the winter with our smart glass!)

Here are some top design tips and ideas for orangeries in 2022:

Avoid dark flooring
Depending on the design of the rest of your house, avoiding dark flooring in your oak orangery is preferred, as it will allow your room to reflect natural light far better. Since one of the purposes of orangeries is to welcome your living space with natural light, installing dark flooring would be counterproductive.
Balance colours
Orangeries are perfect for connecting you with your garden, whilst still being inside your property, so complimenting that with natural colours would be appropriate.
Using bright, soft and subtle tones with a nice accent colour would help bring your orangery to life, whilst remaining airy.
Similar to the flooring, you wouldn’t want dark and gloomy colours!
Bring nature inside
This is something we love to do and encourage with a lot of our clients. If you are building into your garden, why not bring some of your gardens into your house?
Implementing plants, flowers and small trees make a welcoming addition to any oak framed extension.
Not only do they look nice, but they also have a calming effect on us. Plants can alleviate stress and can help people who suffer from anxiety and depression.
Another advantageous benefit of plants is that they can increase air quality within your living space.
Don't over-furnish your orangery
Orangeries will tend to be spacious and feature a few main pieces of furniture, such as a couple of sofas, a dining table set, chests of drawers etc.
It is best not to overcrowd the space so that you can keep it light and airy, as the more furniture in the room, the more sunlight that is getting blocked.
The more you put into that space the more overwhelming and cramped it can feel as well, which is the complete opposite effect you would want to achieve from an orangery.
